APPLIED ACADEMICS

Applied Academics is a logical extension to the Industrial Technology Program. Students will be offered a choice of learning modules in both the Itech Computer Lab as well as the Fabrication Lab. Students will work in pairs and will use all of the resources offered in Industrial Technology which include, power equipment, welding equipment, computers, modems, a Satellite Dish, and a series of CD Rom programs. In addition each student will develop an individual portfolio or Home Page. The portfolio will contain completed activities and projects which will be presented for a final grade.

• STS Systems. NASA has scheduled 8 Missions between May 1999-June 2000. Three of these will include docking with Space Station MIR. Highlights will be downlinked via NASA-SELECT using our Satellite Dish. First launch of ISS component Scheduled for June 2000.
• Robotics
• Space Settlement Design Contest. View Challenger, Ralston Applied Academic student's entry in the Contest for 1996.
• Challenger spins on its axis. (425 k).
• Orbiting Space Observatories (Hubble Space Telescope) and the EUVE (Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer).
