Space Design Students Visit Ames Research Center


Mr. Yager's Space Design and Construction students spent Thursday February 12, 2004 visiting NASA-Ames Research Center to view the new Mars Center. This special tour included "interactive activities" involving the landing of rovers Opportunity and Spirit on the red planet.

Students and staff were then escorted to the historic Hangar One, shown below.



Here is a view of this incredible structure that was home to the USS Macon.

The tour then moved to the Crew and Vehicle Systems Research Facility (Building #257) where students and staff were given an overview of the unique training simulators by Principal Investigator Terry Ragar.

The 80 X 120 Windtunnel was the final stop on this limited tour of Ames Research Center, a world class research facility. Here the students were provided with an overview of windtunnel operations and the contributions to MER landing operations on Mars.
