Career Day in Itech
Paolo Pompanin, Senior License Instructor of Guide Dogs for the Blind,Inc. put on a engaging presentation for Ralston students as part of Career Day Activities. Paolo was accompanied by Rocket a black Labrador Retriever, about to take his final test as a certified guide dog. The power point presentation was entertaining and the students were especially attracted to Rocket. Paolo included several pictures of the dogs in training. Here are a few of those pictures.

Ralston itech students design and fabricate architectural models. Here is an example of a student designed house and landscape. The model is an example of a CAD (Computer assisted design) task. The task allows students to design floorplans, elevations and contoured landscapes on a computer, printout the design and then cut, fold and assemble the model.

Itech engineering students tie Car Builder record. Jovahny N. and Tammy L. both received certificates of achievement for tying the all-time Ralston Car Builder (computer simulation) record. Both students, working individually, designed (wind tunnel and road tested on computers) cars with top speeds of 170 mph and elapsed times of 13.46 sec. in the standing quarter mile test. Congratulations Tammy and Jovahny!

Former Ralston students return for robotic demonstration.
Jonathan K., Ben K., Alex M. and Philip W. gave the Ralston Industrial Technology students quite a robotic show on Friday December 17, 2004. These students are members of the Carlmont/Woodside Robotics team and have participated in local, state and national competitions over the last year. After overcoming some mechanical difficulties, the students were able to command the robot to capture, lift and stack a series of boxes. The demonstration engaged the students and was well received by all.

Ralston Itech Students fabricate Toys for the Wee Care Project
Hats off to Ralston Industrial Technology students. In an effort to provide much needed toys for the Wee Care Gift Drive, the Itech students fabricated 20 game boards for the drive which ended on December 17, 2004. The students used a series of hand and power tools to complete a game board and playing components. Nice work!
Here's a VRML model of the Game Board.
