  1. Open thinkdesign and open a New Model . Close the History tree.
  2. Right click in workspace and select Options.
  3. Click on the General tab and set the unit of measure to Inches and OK the dialog box.

  4. Select Rectangle in the Drafting Toolbar.
  5. Select Cen+Sizes, and insert 7.75 for X and 4.375 for Y in the parameter area and drag the rectangle to the center of the workspace.

  6. Hit Esc to exit the command.

  7. Right click a line segment and select Chain . Change the color to 8 and select Linear Solid and set the depth to .5

  8. Hit to set.

  9. Rotate to check the depth of the Linear sweep
  10. Double click on the face to set the Workplane and let's start working. Begin with lines command in the toolbar and select Parallel lines and set Copy length and Single in the parameter area.

  11. Use the Parallel Lines command and type 0.5 in the Distance parameter box and hit enter to insert the line. Repeat for the other 3 sides. Right click and select Break sequence to end the command.

  12. Select Smart Delete and delete the horizontal lines that extend beyond the vertical lines you just created.

  13. Select the Lines command and use the Two-point lines. You'll now draw four profiles that will form the sides of the box. The two sides and the back will be the same height. Start with the right side. Create a profile of the side using the Two-point lines. Right click a line segment and Select, Chain from this. Hit the Linear Protrusion button and set the Depth to 2.75 and hit .

  14. Rotate to see if your right side appears. It might help to view your solid in the Wireframe View and then return to the Shaded View .

  15. Repeat this for the back and right side. Dynamically rotate and make sure your solid looks like the one below.

  16. Time for the front. Repeat the steps for the other three sides and Linear Sweep but this time set the Depth to 2.25. This will allow the top to close properly.

  17. Hit and the box should look like this.

  18. Place the Workplane on the left side and Zoom in . Select the Simple Hole command. Set Extension, Thru all, and the Diameter at 0.125.

  19. Hit and you're ready for the top placement.

We'll work on the top in step 2.
