Bryan Yager, Industrial Technology instructor at Ralston Middle School has been named "Educator of the Year" by the Belmont Chamber of Commerce.
The Educator of the Year Award was recently established by Tom and Eda Diridon to outstanding teachers.
Yager, a Ralston teacher for the past 26 years was honored at a special Chamber of Commerce dinner held July 8 at Ralston Hall. In presenting Yager with the award, Eda Diridon noted his comittment to students, his innovative teaching techniques and his use of technology in the classroom. Yager's students recently won first place in the NASA Space Colony Design Competition, a contest with entries from young people all over the world. Also nominated for Educator of the Year were Lynn Bjorquist, third-grade teacher at Sandpiper School,
Sally Burgess, fifth-grade teacher at Nesbit School, Katie Christiansen, kindergarten teacher at Central Scchool, Claudette McElroy, kindergarten teacher at Cipriani School and Abby O'Leary, third-grade teacher at Fox School.
